Announcing the launch of FASTR to support female athletes

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Stanford Female Athlete Science and Translational Research (FASTR) Program. The program seeks to help close the gender gap in sports science research. It emphasizes early identification and interventions to prevent injury and also seeks ways to optimize performance in female athletes.
FASTR will translate this cutting-edge information and research to athletes, coaches, and practitioners in the community. One of its initial efforts is a six-part video series that features inspiring women athletes and breaks down the science on key topics such as the Female Athlete Triad and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), nutrition, the menstrual cycle, bone health, mental health, and inclusion in sport. The FASTR program is part of the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance at Stanford and collaborates with the Alliance’s Female Athlete Program. FASTR is led by Alliance leader and Stanford orthopedic surgeon Dr. Emily Kraus and her research team with a growing number of collaborators at Stanford, Harvard, and other organizations.
